President’s Letter, September 2019

Greetings!

Summer has come to an end but here at the OSGi Alliance, we’re looking forward to many activities in the remainder of the year including the annual OSGi Community Event, our joint conference with EclipseCon Europe, October 21-24 in Ludwigsburg, Germany.

We also plan to continue to celebrate our 20-year anniversary, which we are extremely proud of and have a few celebration activities planned at the Community Event.  Many thanks to our OSGi 20th anniversary sponsors who are supporting our celebration efforts — IBM, Liferay and Inventures!

Read more below for details on all OSGi Alliance activities including a new blog series featuring RFP/RFCs that are currently being worked on in OSGi Expert Groups and highlights of OSGi use cases including Industry 4.0, Smart City, Smart Agriculture and Smart Transport.

Thank you for reading our quarterly newsletter and I look forward to seeing many of you in Ludwigsburg!

Sincerely,

Dan Bandera

OSGi Alliance 20th Anniversary

Celebrating 20 years as an alliance is a very proud moment for the organization and simply said, we would not be where are today without the tremendous industry and member support we have received. This is especially true considering the support from OSGi Fellows, Laureates and past presidents with their contributions and leadership achievements in driving the OSGi Alliance and the adoption of OSGi technology.

We plan to continue our celebration at the OSGi Community Event 2019 and thank you to IBM, Liferay and Inventures for sponsoring our 20-year anniversary celebration activities!

OSGi Use Cases

OSGi technology is successful because it provides a mature, field-proven process that enables the modular assembly of software that works in a large number of environments and in many types of applications ranging from the simple to highly complex. OSGi has enjoyed wide adoption across a broad range of industries including Industry 4.0, Smart City, Smart Agriculture, and Smart Transport as illustrated in the use cases below.
