Compliance & Certification Program
The OSGi Compliance and Certification program assures customers of interoperability for OSGi applications and services running on platforms certified compliant with a particular OSGi Service Platform Release specification. The compliance certification program enables developers to build solutions for a broader variety of reliable product solutions that include OSGi technology.
The current program certifies compliance for OSGi Service Platform Release 4.
Official compliance tests are available to OSGi members only. Member companies run the official compliance tests for an OSGi specification and submit successful test results to the OSGi Alliance for verification that all applicable tests were passed. Upon verification, the OSGi Alliance certifies the member company's OSGi service platform. Service platforms are tested in isolation and independent of their host Virtual Machine.
An OSGi service platform is the software product that includes an OSGi Framework and a set of zero or more core service bundles. Any service bundles which exist in the OSGi namespace that are offered as part of a service platform must be tested for compliance in order for the entire service platform to be considered for inclusion in the certification program. Members may submit a service platform they developed or one developed by a third party.
Any company using a service platform certified by an OSGi Member may claim compliance for its product. The product is said to "Contain an OSGi Certified Service Platform."
