Providing a Bundle RepositoryVendors that want to provide bundles in the repository should provide an XML repository file and contact the to get the repository included in the federation. The format of this file is described in RFC-0112 Bundle Repository. As a convenience, an indexing program is available. This program can be downloaded here. The BIndexer takes a list of bundle file names, parses these bundles, and creates ZIP file with the bundles and the repository file. This zip file can be expanded somewhere in a place that makes it visible over a web server. The BIndexer will map the manifests to the generic requirement/capability model used in the OSGi Bundle Repository. Any naming/url issues are also resolved. However, this is a convenience function, vendors are free to provide their own indexing mechanisms. FutureThe OSGi Bundle Repository is work in progress. There are many issues that need to be resolved: licensing, automatic provisioning and so on. Together with the OSGi members and open source communities we will make significant changes in the coming months. |
