Press Release - April 26, 2004 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The OSGi Alliance is an open industry group formed in 1999 that has published three releases of its Service Platform specification to enable the delivery and management of applications and services to networked devices in mobile, vehicle, home, and other environments. The annual World Congress is an open-to-the-public conference featuring pre- and post-event workshops, exhibitions, keynote presentations and breakout sessions targeted at experts and novices alike. "The acceptance of the OSGi Service Platform has exploded over the last year, with framework developers, device manufacturers, and service providers releasing OSGi enabled products and services in many markets," said Dr. John Barr, President of the OSGi Alliance and Director, Standards Realization at Motorola, Inc. "The OSGi Alliance 2004 World Congress in Barcelona will be a unique opportunity to experience how the OSGi service framework is being applied and how your company can take advantage of new opportunities in mobile markets." Building on a highly successful Congress in Düsseldorf, Germany, in 2003, the OSGi Alliance recently formed a Mobile Expert Group (MEG), co-chaired by Motorola and Nokia, to define the requirements and specifications to tailor and extend the OSGi Service Platform for mobile devices. The 2004 World Congress will provide an inside look at the work being performed within the OSGi Alliance by its members to create device middleware solutions for the mobile industry.
