Open Source MarketApache Felix - (felix.apache.org) The Felix Project has entered Incubation at the Apache Software Foundation and will be the foundation's implementation of the OSGi specifications. Felix is a community effort to implement the OSGi Service Platform Release 4, which includes the OSGi framework and standard services, as well as providing and supporting other interesting OSGi-related technologies. The ultimate goal is to provide a fully compliant implementation of the OSGi framework and standard services and to support a community around this technology. Felix currently implements a large portion of the OSGi specifications, but additional work is necessary for full compliance. Despite this fact, the OSGi framework functionality provided by Felix is very stable. Eclipse Equinox - (www.eclipse.org/equinox/) From a code point of view, Equinox is an implementation of the OSGi framework specification, a set of bundles that implement various optional OSGi services and other infrastructure for running OSGi technology based systems. More generally, the goal of the Equinox project is to be a first-class OSGi technology community and foster the vision of Eclipse as a landscape of bundles. As part of this, it is responsible for developing and delivering the OSGi framework implementation used for all of Eclipse. In addition, the project is open to:
As a peer of the Platform, JDT and PDE projects, the Equinox OSGi code is managed by the Eclipse PMC and ships with the Eclipse project major releases. The various other bundles developed here may ship independently and on different schedules. FUSE ESB 4 - (www.fusesource.com) FUSE ESB 4 is an open source ESB that includes a complete OSGi framework and is based on Apache ServiceMix 4. The FUSE team, many of whom are project leaders and key committers at Apache, productize and fully support FUSE ESB 4. FUSE ESB 4 supports OSGi as well as other integration standards in a single platform, making it easy for developers to implement the integration patterns they need with the programming model of their choice. FUSE ESB 4 includes:
Knopflerfish - (www.knopflerfish.org) Makewave is the founder and maintainer of Knopflerfish, an open source OSGi distribution. The goal of the Knopflerfish project is to develop and distribute easy-to-use open source code, build tools and applications related to OSGi technology. Gatespace Telematics, an OSGi Alliance member, has several developers assigned to further develop and maintain the Knopflerfish OSGi distribution. The Knopflerfish Pro version gives companies the full assurance of a fully supported open source product when embedding Knopflerfish in commercial products and systems. Knopflerfish Pro 2.0 is certified by the OSGi Alliance as OSGi R4 compliant. ProSyst´s mToolkit - (www.prosyst.com) extends the Eclipse IDE with the necessary tools for easier adoption of the OSGi technology. It provides the developers with remote management capabilities of OSGi containers. From within the Eclipse IDE the developer can execute bundle operations like installing bundles on a remote OSGi container. Additionally, mToolkit enables access to the OSGi service registry in order to validate the bundle's service dependencies and registrations. Please take a look at the following screencast for feature demonstration and usage instructions. mToolkit OSGi Remote Management:(www.dz.prosyst.com/mToolkit/mBSManagementDemo.htm) |
