CFP OPEN. EARLY BIRD SUBMISSION DEADLINE JULY 31, 2013

The OSGi Community Event 2013 will be held Oct 29-31 in Ludwigsburg, Germany, co-located with EclipseCon Europe 2013 at the Forum am Sclosspark.

This year's theme, "Tap into the Broader Ecosystem," highlights the unique and rising role OSGi plays in a surprising number of environments. OSGi is increasingly deployed in large-scale distributed systems as well as small, embedded devices and applications, sustaining an ecosystem that includes operators, utilities, enterprise and embedded software vendors, and device and automotive manufacturers. Offerings include enterprise application servers, enterprise service bus, customer premise equipment and telematics solutions.

The OSGi Community Event will help attendees understand how others are using OSGi to compete in their own industries ad the event attracts enterprise and embedded software architects, IT decision-makers and software leaders, as well as developers who are using OSGi as the basis for their next-generation IT infrastructure.

Call For Presentations

The Call for Presentations (CFP) is open. Important dates to note:

  • Early Bird Deadline - July 31, 2013
  • Final Deadline - August 12, 2013

We are accepting submissions of two types:

  • Standard Sessions - 35 minutes
  • Tutorial Sessions - 3 hours

Panel suggestions are also welcome and should be submitted as Standard Sessions in the submission system with an indication that its a Panel submission in the Description.

Suggested topics of interest include:
* Improving the Developer Experience (e.g. tooling, bundle repositories, Bundle Recipe Project)
* Cloud * Embedded
* Enterprise * Device Abstraction Layer
* M2M * JavaScript, C/C++
* Use Cases * Tutorials & Training

Whats in it for you?
Of course presenting at the OSGi Community Event provides you with the opportunity to get yourself and your activities known to the wider OSGi community. In addition successful submissions result in free passes to EclipseCon Europe and the OSGi Community Event for the speakers.

  • Standard Sessions: Each accepted Standard Session (35 minutes) earns one 100%-off discount; the discount goes to the first speaker listed on the talk
  • Tutorial Sessions: Each accepted Tutorial (3 hours) earns two 100%-off speaker discounts; the discount goes to the first and second speakers listed on the talk

How to submit a talk
You must have an Eclipse.org account and be logged in before you can submit a presentation. If you already have an Eclipse Bugzilla account, you can log in using those credentials. To create an account click here.

  • Write a short, descriptive, and catchy Session Title
  • Choose the Session Type: Standard or Tutorial
  • Enter the Speaker name(s)
  • Enter Tags (optional) to help describe the content
  • Select OSGi as the Track (Important - see why below)
  • Choose the Experience Level: Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced
  • Enter the Description of your submission: It is worthwhile reviewing the submission tips and speaker tips before completing this.

Why is it important to select OSGi as the Track?
We are sharing the EclipseCon Europe submission system and failure to select your Track as OSGi will result in your submission not being picked up for review by the separate OSGi Community Event selection committee.
